While on a trip to Ethiopia, Wilford Welch saw firsthand the effects of climate change. This profound experience led the Sausalito resident to write “In Our Hands,” his recent book on how everyday people can help solve the climate crisis.

For more than five decades, Welch, 80, has explored the driving forces impacting our world. After getting a law degree from the University of California at Berkeley, he became a U.S. diplomat in Asia. He left to work for Arthur D. Little as an economic development and business consultant for nearly a decade, before becoming the publisher of the World Paper, a world affairs publication that appeared in more than 20 countries.
